Field Transmission Unit (FTU)
The Field Transmission Unit (FTU) is the key communication hub between IoT sensors and central monitoring systems. It collects data from field sensors, processes it locally, and transmits it securely to remote servers or edge computing devices for real-time analysis.
Current Sensor
Monitoring this current is essential to ensure the track circuit is energized properly. A reduction in current flow could indicate issues like track circuit failure, broken rails, or loose connections, which are critical for signaling and safety.
Voltage Sensor
Ensures that the feed voltage is stable and sufficient to power the track circuit. A drop in voltage could signal electrical faults or a high resistance problem, affecting the entire signal and communication system.
Vibration Sensor
Abnormal vibrations can indicate mechanical issues, misalignments, or wear and tear within the machine, helping to diagnose problems early and prevent failures.
Server Box for Data Processing and Analysis
The Server Box is the core processing unit in Energy7’s railway monitoring system, designed to handle the vast amount of data collected from sensors across the railway infrastructure. It plays a pivotal role in the real-time analysis of data gathered from track circuits, point machines, and other critical components, utilizing advanced AI/ML algorithms to provide predictive maintenance insights.
Wattmon
Wattmon gathers raw data from sensors measuring energy consumption, current, voltage, and power quality across various railway systems (track circuits, point machines, signals, etc.).
Router
The router is responsible for transmitting data collected from various sensors (current, voltage, vibration, etc.) to the central server or cloud-based system. This enables railway operators to monitor energy usage, power quality, and the operational health of systems in real-time.
